Trump on taking over Greenland: Now NATO should do something for the US

According to Donald Trump, the world is not safe until the US has "complete and total" control over Greenland. He writes this in a message to the Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre, in which Trump also writes that because he was not awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, he does not feel obliged to think "exclusively about peace".

- Denmark cannot protect this country against Russia and China, and why do they even have an "ownership right", writes Donald Trump to the Norwegian Prime Minister.

President of the united states, Donald Trump, no longer feels obliged to "think only of peace" because he was not awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

Trump writes this in a message to Norway's Prime Minister, Jonas Gahr Støre. The Prime Minister confirms this to the Norwegian media VG.

Trump emphasizes that the goal of peace "will always be dominant" but that he can now think about what is "good and right" for the United States.

- It's just a boat that went ashore

- Denmark cannot protect this country against Russia and China, and why do they even have an "owner's right".

- There are no written documents, it's just a boat that went ashore there hundreds of years ago, but we also had a boat that went ashore, writes Trump according to VG.

The president also elaborates in his message that, according to him, the world is not safe until the US has "complete and total" control over Greenland.

- I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now NATO should do something for the United States, writes Trump according to the media.

Will tone down rhetoric

The message from Trump came as a response to a short joint message from the Norwegian Prime Minister and the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, Støre told the media.

The Norwegian media NRK has also confirmed the exchange.

- In our message to Trump, we conveyed our position against his increased tariffs towards Norway, Finland and other selected countries, says Jonas Gahr Støre to NRK and adds:

- We pointed to the need to tone down the rhetoric and requested a telephone conversation between Trump and Stubb and me during the day.
