American biotech company has acquired mining license in East Greenland

In February this year, Hans Jensen (left) and Bo Møller Stensgaard (right) established the company Greenland Mines Corp., which has taken over the exploration licenses at Skaergard in East Greenland. Greenland Mines was acquired by the American biotech company Klotho Neuroscience on March 6, which subsequently changed its name to Greenland Mines Corp.

The American biotech company Klotho Neurosciences has acquired the recently established mineral resources company Greenland Mines Corp., which through Skaergaard Mining Greenland holds three exploration licenses for the area between the Miki Fjord and Kangerlussuaq fjords in Northeast Greenland. Klotho Neurosciences has subsequently changed its name to Greenland Mines Corp.

This is apparent from current stock exchange announcements from Greenland Mines Corp.

Special rock type

The area - located between the towns of Tasiilaq and Ittoqqortoormiit - is also called the Skaergaard intrusion, and is characterized by a special layered rock type that arose as a result of lava being pressed up to a few kilometers below the surface of the earth, where it then crystallized and is preserved as the rock type gabbro, in which metals such as gold and palladium are found.

Many different companies have held licenses for the area over time, including Eastern Zinc Corporation, Gryphon Metals Corporation, Platinova Resources, Galahad Resources, Platina Resources and most recently the Canadian Major Precious Metals, which was forcibly dissolved in 2024. However, none of the exploration has yet led to actual mining.

Now it is Greenland Mining Corp., led by American director Joseph Sinkule and Danish Bo Møller Stensgaard and Hans Jensen, who will attempt to commercialize the deposits. Both Bo Møller Stensgaard and Hans Jensen have a history in several mineral companies with licenses in Greenland, most recently Bluejay Mining and Dundas Titanium.

Biotechnology and mining

Klotho Neuroscience has not previously been involved in mining, but works primarily with cell and gene therapy in relation to diseases such as ALS and Alzheimer's. In a press release, Joseph Sinkule said of the new focus area:

"We are combining this world-class mineral asset with our existing biotechnology platform, creating a uniquely diversified business that provides investors with exposure to both cutting-edge life sciences and strategic natural resources. We believe this is an important opportunity to make a significant contribution to the mission of ensuring Western access to critical minerals."

Geological consulting

Greenland Mines Corp. says it has engaged SLR Consulting to provide a broad range of geological, technical and project development activities.

This includes drilling and bulk sample planning, project database development, mining and development roadmap work and input into mining methods, mine planning, metallurgy, process flowsheet definition and mining engineering studies to help the project advance future technical milestones.

Field work this year

The agreement also includes a return visit to the site by SLR specialists in late August or early September 2026 in connection with the company's planned summer field activities.

Greenland Mines also expects SLR Consulting to work closely with the other consultants already engaged on the project. This includes Finnish GTK Mintec and Canadian engineering firm WSP.
