New drilling activities at Ivittuut and Grønnedal

The Australian company Eclipse Metals has just completed a major drilling program at their project areas at Iviittuut and Grønnedal. The samples will now be analyzed. In the meantime, the company is trying to find investors, including in the USA, where they have allied themselves with the consulting company BGR Group.

Eclipse Metals, which took over the license at Ivittuut and Grønnedal in 2024, has just completed drilling tests in the areas. The company has also engaged with a US lobbying firm to secure investors and access to decision-makers in the US.

The Australian company Eclipse Metals, which has exploration licenses at Ivittuut and Grønnedal in South Greenland, completed a major exploration and drilling program at both locations at the turn of the year.

– We started a little later than planned, which meant we had to work during the cold months of October and November, but the Greenlandic team did a fantastic job and we were able to complete both the drilling-related activities, field sampling and preparation of drill cores for shipment, says Eclipse Metals CEO Carl Popal.

The Australian mineral resources company Eclipse Metals conducted drilling at its projects at Ivittuut and Grønnedal in the autumn and until Christmas. The drill samples will now be analyzed in more detail at laboratories in Australia.

Rare earth metals

The project in Greenland is the company's first outside of Australia, where Eclipse Metals has 19 mineral projects underway, including a copper project and two uranium projects in the state of North West Territory.

The company has previously announced that it is looking for rare earth metals, quartz and cryolite fluoride, as well as iron-zinc in the project areas.

The latest drill samples from Ivittuut and Grønnedal are expected to arrive in Australia soon, where they will be sent to laboratories for geotechnical studies, says Carl Popal.

“At Ivittuut, we primarily tested the broader potential for industrial minerals and confirmed the occurrences in the historic mine. That is, what is there and how much is there, and how is it chemically related. At Grønnedal, there was more focus on understanding the geological system with rare earth metals and confirming the expression and continuity of the occurrences and collecting technical data necessary to evaluate the occurrence over time. In both areas, this is early sampling, so that we can build a solid technical foundation before making further decisions,” says Carl Popal.

American advisor

Eclipse Metals announced in a stock exchange announcement in November 2025 that it had engaged with the American lobbying and consulting firm BGR Group, which will strengthen the company's position vis-a-vis both the US government and potential financing companies.

"The engagement with BGR Group represents a significant milestone in strengthening the geopolitical positioning of our Greenland assets. Their experience operating at the highest level of US policymaking will be extremely valuable as Eclipse Metals advances its goal of establishing the Ivittuut-Grønnedal project as a leading Western source of critical rare earths. With simultaneous progress across the US and Europe, Eclipse Metals is now better positioned than ever to translate our geological discoveries into strategic partnerships, government support and long-term value for our shareholders," Carl Popal said in the stock exchange announcement.
