New strategy: KNR will increase Greenlandic production

Greenlandic language and production must be further prioritized in the future, and the agreement with Naalakkersuisut must be revised, says KNR's chairman of the board.

In recent years, KNR has gone through a complicated time with many changes in the organization.

KNR's new strategy is now being realized, and the starting point for the new strategy is the media's central responsibility in Greenlandic society. KNR itself states this in a press release.

– One of KNR's most important characteristics is our Greenlandic-language dissemination. We are the largest media that continuously produces news in an Inuit language. Therefore, developing and improving our service in our own language is one of our most important tasks, says chairman of the board Nukaraq Eugenius.

The new strategy will apply from 2026 to 2030. The strategy is based on five core values: credibility, respect, quality, innovation and holistic understanding.

KNR's goals for the future include increased production in Greenlandic.

– KNR has never been more important. At a time when Greenland is experiencing pressure from outside, we are clarifying our responsibility to both users and employees through the strategy. We want to tell the stories from our country ourselves, and in a time of international attention it is important that we also stand strong when it comes to credibility, says Director Hans Peter Poulsen.

Other areas of focus are the modernization of IT equipment and digital platforms as well as improving management and the working environment.

It is also clear that KNR wants changes to the public service agreement. It is the agreement between the media and the Government of Greenland that sets the framework for KNR's work.
