Bankivik explains the profit by saying that it is mainly driven by the robust economy of its Greenlandic customers and refers to a number of key figures:
No fee increases have been made during 2025, so the good development is due to the addition of new customers and the customers using the bank's services much more, it is explained.
The bank has focused on developing digital solutions in the past year, and CEO Turið F. Arge states that last year, a record number of people used the bank's investment platform. He also points out that their online bank - the only one in Greenland - is free for all private customers.
Geopolitical tensions
Turið F. Arge discusses the geopolitical tensions that the American President's interest has caused.
- It is no secret that the geopolitical unrest has deeply affected both customers and employees. We are therefore immensely proud and happy that our customers have shown resilience and overall have a good economy. We have also experienced commendable commitment among our skilled employees as well as a strengthened cooperation and bond between our Greenlandic and Faroese employees, says the director, who states that expectations for 2026 are mostly good.
Bankivik is part of Føroya Banki, which as a group was able to deliver an annual profit after tax of 288 million DKK, which is described as satisfactory, as it exceeded expectations for the year.
At the general meeting on March 26, the bank expects to propose that DKK 202 million be paid out in dividends, corresponding to DKK 21.04 per share and 70% of the year's profit, the group announcement states.
