Very special weather conditions for the time of year mean that musk deer hunting is postponed in several areas.

Earlier this week, hunting near Kangerlussuaq was postponed, and now hunting in the Sisimiut area is also postponed.

This is stated by the Ministry of Fisheries, Hunting, Agriculture and Self-Sustainability in a press release.

The reason for the postponed hunt is a lack of ice and snow. The department writes about Kangerlussuaq:

- It is the very special weather conditions in Kangerlussuaq, with no ice formation at the bottom of the fjord so far and no snow on land, that are the reason for postponing the winter hunt for musk oxen.

According to the department, they are working with the fishermen's and hunters' organization and Qeqqata Municipality to closely monitor weather conditions, and in this way it will be decided when winter muskox hunting can begin.
