2025 brought thousands more air travelers

The number of air travelers increased by a whopping 18.2 percent in 2025.

Statistics Greenland has just published a publication on the number of air travelers abroad in 2025, and there has been a significant increase:

- The number of passengers on scheduled flights from January to December 2025 was 114,431, which is an increase of 18.2 percent compared to the year 2024, writes Statistics Greenland.

The majority of traffic has taken place via Nuuk Airport, which in November 2024 took over the role as a hub for air traffic from Kangerlussuaq.

The table below shows that a total of 93,753 passengers passed through the new international airport in 2025:

As can also be seen from the table, the number of passengers has fallen sharply in Kangerlussuaq to 8,179 passengers. This corresponds to a decrease of 88 percent.

At the airports of Kulusuk, Ilulissat and Narsarsuaq, the number of international passengers decreased in 2025 compared to 2024.
