Crew member from American submarine evacuated to Queen Ingrid's Hospital

On Saturday afternoon, Arctic Command rescued a crew member from a US submarine near Nuuk.

Arctic Command writes on Facebook that the crew member needed emergency medical treatment.

The crew member was evacuated in an operation carried out with the Danish Armed Forces Seahawk helicopter, which was deployed from the inspection ship Vædderen.

According to Arctic Command, the crew member has been transferred to the Greenlandic health authorities and the hospital in Nuuk.

The evacuation took place 7 nautical miles outside Nuuk in Greenlandic territorial waters, Arctic Command informs.
