On Wednesday night, Danish time, US President Donald Trump delivered the longest State of the Union address in history.

This is reported by CNN and BBC.

The Republican president broke the record when the speech passed 1 hour and 29 minutes.

The speech, which began at around 3:10 a.m. Danish time, lasted until around 5:00 a.m.

The previous record belonged to former President Bill Clinton. It was set in the year 2000.

Greenland was not mentioned

At the beginning of the year, the US president put a lot of pressure on Greenland and the rest of the Kingdom with statements that the US should take over Greenland.

Last weekend, he announced that "a fantastic hospital ship" was on its way to Greenland to treat the sick.

However, the president does not mention Greenland in a single word in his speech, Danish media such as DR report.

- The US is respected again

In his speech, the president takes stock of the state of the US and presents his political priorities for the coming year.

- Our nation is back. Bigger, better, richer and stronger than ever before, Donald Trump began his speech.

- We have achieved a transformation like no other. Inflation is falling, the borders are secure, the economy is better, our enemies are afraid, and the United States is respected again - perhaps like never before, it continued.

Calls Supreme Court ruling "unfortunate"

Among other things, the president mentioned that inflation has not been lower in five years, while the stock market has set several records.

He also touched on last week's Supreme Court ruling that overturned Trump's increased punitive tariffs on foreign goods.

- It was a very unfortunate decision, said Trump, who has subsequently introduced a new temporary import tariff, based on other legislation and valid for 150 days.

Democrat was kicked out for the second year in a row

Several Democrats had chosen to stay away from the speech, which got off to a dramatic start when Democrat Al Green was escorted away for the second year in a row.

This came after Green held up a sign that read "black people are not monkeys".

This was, according to Reuters, a reference to a video that Trump shared on social media earlier this month.

The video featured a clip of former US President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama, with the couple depicted as monkeys.
