Elvira Kûitse will not run again
The deputy for Aki-Matilda Høegh-Dam (N) in the last general election will not run again when the general election is on March 24.
– No, I will not, Elvira Kûitse writes briefly in response to Sermitsiaq's question about whether she is on the ballot for Naleraq.
Elvira Kûitse entered the Folketing in the fall of 2025, when Aki-Matilda Høegh-Dam took leave to attend to her political work in Inatsisartut. This made her the first East Greenlander in the Folketing.
Kûitse received 120 personal votes in the 2022 parliamentary election. Like Aki-Matilda Høegh-Dam, she ran for Siumut at the time, but later switched to Naleraq.

Confirmed: Aki-Matilda also leaves the Folketing
It is now certain that Greenland will have two new members of the Folketing.
On Thursday, Aaja Chemnitz (IA) announced that she will not run again, and on Thursday evening, party chairwoman in Naleraq Pele Broberg announced that Aki-Matilda Høegh-Dam will not run again either.
The party chairwoman thanks Aki-Matilda Høegh-Dam for her work:
- We see you. We appreciate you. We support you 100% in your decision not to run again, writes Pele Broberg on Facebook.
Aki-Matilda Høegh-Dam has previously announced that she would not run again for the Folketinget, partly because she is now also a member of Inatsisartut, where she will use her strength.

- The challenges have not diminished
In a video on TikTok from Thursday evening, Aki-Matilda Høegh-Dam tells more about her decision:
- Right now I am in Uummannaq, and you have probably heard that there are elections for the Folketinget. I just want to say it so that everyone is on board:
- I have decided not to run for the Folketinget. Therefore, I would like to thank everyone who has supported me. We have achieved a lot. I am absolutely certain that the next members will also do everything for their work, Aki-Matilda Høegh-Dam says in the video, among other things, and continues:
- The challenges in our country have not diminished, and therefore I will use my energy and time to focus on them. Therefore, I would also like to thank my colleagues in the Folketing, including Aaja. Even though we do not always agree, I would like to thank you for the good cooperation we have had.
Aki-Matilda Høegh-Dam ran for the 2022 parliamentary election for Siumut. She received a landslide election with a total of 6,670 votes, corresponding to 33 percent of all votes cast in the election.
In February 2025, leading up to the Inatsisartut election, she switched parties from Siumut to Naleraq.
