US President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that he wants to buy or annex Greenland. Therefore, the ICC calls on all states to uphold international law and the rules-based order in its latest press release.

The chairwoman of the ICC, Sara Olsvig, continues to reject the premise that Greenland and its people are commodities.

- The Arctic is our homeland. We continue to reject the premise that our land or people are commodities that can be bought or sold. We call for cooperation based on dialogue with respect for Inuit rights. The Arctic has been our home since the dawn of time, says Sara Olsvig through the press release.

She calls on indigenous peoples throughout the Arctic and the rest of the world to stand firm for their rights, especially the right to self-determination.

Greenland will not be American territory

ICC's Greenlandic Vice-Chairman, Hjalmar Dahl, reiterates the message from the Greenlandic people.

- Kalaallit has said very clearly through our nation's government and parliament that we do not want to become part of the United States, he says, emphasizing that it is time for us to stand shoulder to shoulder for our rights.

The Chairman of the Greenlandic Parliament, Jens-Frederik Nielsen (D), has said several times that "we do not want to be Danes, we do not want to be Americans, we want to be Greenlanders."
