King Frederik will travel to Greenland in week eight, he said on Thursday at a press conference during a state visit to Lithuania.
- Our thoughts are very often with the Greenlandic population in these weeks. We are following it very closely, and we also talk about it with our children who ask about it, says the King.
He says that the royal couple are very concerned about the situation and that they are aware of the great support Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark have received.
- I am also looking forward to traveling to Greenland in week 8 and visiting Greenland.
The King says that both he and Queen Mary have been greatly affected by what is happening in Greenland. - We can sense from the media that the Greenlandic people have been very concerned. It concerns us both. Greenland is very important to us, says the King.
This is the first time that King Frederik has spoken out about the situation in Greenland since attention has flared up again.
