Landry invites Jeremiassen to cowboy festival: – It's about developing the business community

After Jeff Landry was unable to experience Avannaata Qimussersua in Qasigiannguit, he invites Kristian Jeremiassen's tourism company Experience Qasigiannguit for a cultural and educational exchange in the United States.

Jeff Landry has invited Kristian Jeremiassen for cultural and educational exchange, and his visit will start at the cowboy festival Hondo Rodeo Fest.

When the Avannaata Qimussersua race takes place in Qasigiannguit on March 28, Trump's special envoy to Greenland, Jeff Landry, and tour operator Kristian Jeremiassen were supposed to watch the race together.

However, that is not the case. The visit was canceled after the offer to Jeff Landry was withdrawn. KNQK criticized the offer in light of pressure from Donald Trump to take over Greenland, after which Kristian Jeremiassen chose to withdraw the offer. But instead, the two may appear together at a cowboy festival in New Orleans, Louisiana, in April.

Jeff Landry has invited Kristian Jeremiassen and his family business, Experience Qasigiannguit, for a cultural and educational exchange. The visit begins at the Hondo Rodeo Fest.

– We work to promote business, that is our focus. We are not working for someone to take over our country. We see opportunities to develop business, and I look forward to that, says Kristian Jeremiassen to Sermitsiaq.

Qasigiannguit needs to be developed

Development in Qasigiannguit is going in the wrong direction, and therefore tourism operator Kristian Jeremiassen believes that the city needs more attention and more business opportunities.

– Something has to happen. The population is falling, and the number of jobs is falling. More needs to happen within the business community, he says.

Jeff Landry is the governor of Louisiana, and Trump appointed him as a special envoy to Greenland in December of last year. Landry expressed at the time that he looked forward to working for Greenland to become part of the United States.

He also points out that the city needs to be better prepared for the opening of the new airport in Ilulissat, which is scheduled to open in October.

– We are behind. It is a huge opportunity, and we need to prepare for it.

According to Kristian Jeremiassen, development is not about mass tourism, but about quality and responsibility.

– We don't want to have many customers. Our desire is to have few, but very capable customers. We must also take nature into account.

He does not fear abuse of the visit

Kristian Jeremiassen's company was invited together with another tourist operator, as can be seen from the invitation we received at Sermitsiaq.

Jeremiassen has confirmed that he has asked another tourist operator that he would like to collaborate with.

The visit is a cultural and educational exchange. After participating in the festival, you can read the following in the email:

"Then you can experience the culture of the state of Louisiana and see how we develop the natural resources with respect for the environment and cultural heritage."

The trip must be paid for out of pocket, says Kristian Jeremiassen.

Aren't you worried that the visit might be misused in the media or on social networks?

- He is a good man (Jeff Landry ed.). It has been that way since we first contacted him. I hope that he will contribute to promoting business, says Kristian Jeremiassen.
