Margrethe Løvstrøm, who lives in Uummannaq, tells AG about the happiness and new strength that the sun's return brings.
- I feel so deeply happy when I see the sun's rays over my district of Nasiffissuaq (part of Uummannaq, ed.), says Margrethe.
After 77 days, or no sun since November 19, the sun rose again in Uummannaq on February 4.
Due to the weather, the sun did not rise in Uummannaq until February 7, explains Margrethe.
- It's as if our country came to another planet, even though we stayed there. I felt like I got a lot of energy. It's as if I can handle any task, says Margrethe Løvstrøm in a happy voice.
Margrethe explains that when the sun rises, it is a source of encouragement and happiness for people, and it reminds them of how easy life really is.
- It's like we're not so lonely anymore, I feel much safer because all my children have flown from the nest and live somewhere else, says Margrethe with a relieved expression.
