2025 saw slightly more reports than 2024, but still below the average in recent years.
The Greenland Police has published the annual statistics for 2025, which shows a slight increase in reports compared to 2024.
However, the number of reports is still lower than the average of previous years, which is considered positive in the annual statistics. There were a total of 4,048 reports in 2025 compared to the previous year, when the number was 3,881 reports.
Violence and burglary
The statistics show an increase of 204 reports of violence, burglary and vandalism compared to the previous year. This makes youth crime at its highest level since 2016.
For burglary, there is an increase of 107 reports in 2025; thus an increase of 70 reports for vandalism.
81 percent of burglaries were committed in businesses and public buildings, and 8 percent were committed in private residences.
Sexual assaults
In 2025, 445 sexual crimes were registered. This is the lowest number since 2018.
Abuses against children under the age of 15 have decreased. This may indicate a positive development in society's handling of some of society's most serious problems, the Greenland Police assess.
Drugs
Looking at drug-related cases, the decline continues in 2025 with 102 fewer cases than in 2024 (which was already 94 less than in 2023), while the Greenland Police has seized less hard drugs (amphetamine, cocaine and LSD) than the year before.
The statistics include all registered cases and reports from January 1 to December 31, 2025. The Greenland Police received a new case management system in the second half of 2025, which may affect comparisons with previous years, the report states.
The annual statistics contain additional information about the crime picture and the police work, and can be read in full on the Greenland Police website.
