Air Greenland and Thin Blue Line Denmark have entered into a partnership to benefit police officers who live with the aftereffects of their service.

The partnership will last until 2026, during which Air Greenland will provide airline tickets for Thin Blue Line's offers and work.

Thin Blue Line Denmark is an association whose primary purpose is to support former and current police officers with physical and/or psychological injuries in Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands, as well as their families.

– For many injured police officers, reserve officers and municipal bailiffs in Greenland, help is far away, both physically and mentally. This agreement means that we can now be more present where the need is, and ensure that no one is left alone with the scars caused by their time in service, says Stinne Ølshøj, CEO of Thin Blue Line Denmark.

A hard-hit profession

Studies have shown that every tenth police officer in Greenland meets the criteria for PTSD, and that every fourth officer has been on sick leave or left the service due to stress from work. This is stated by the parties in their press release.

Thin Blue Line Denmark has therefore launched several initiatives in Greenland, but the large geographical distances and limited finances make it difficult to reach out widely. This problem is something that the new collaboration should help solve.

– Thin Blue Line Denmark's efforts are very special because they reach out to some of the people who are on the front lines every day for our common security. Air Greenland can help the efforts reach even further across the country, says Air Greenland's Director of Sustainability and Communications, Inga Dóra G. Markussen.

Thin Blue Line Denmark also plans to expand its work to include injured prison officers who, through their work, face situations with a risk of traumatic experiences.
