US senators expect to vote against an attack on Greenland

In the future, there will be votes on invasions of several countries, including Greenland, says a US senator.

Democrat Tim Kaine and Republican Rand Paul told reporters on Wednesday evening Danish time about an upcoming vote Thursday in the Senate to block further military action in Venezuela.

It is expected that the US Senate will at some point vote on a law that would restrict US President Donald Trump's ability to attempt to invade Greenland.

This was announced by Democrat Tim Kaine, elected in Virginia, and Republican Rand Paul, elected in Kentucky, during a joint meeting with journalists.

"You're going to see war powers proposals made on Cuba, Mexico, Nigeria and Greenland," says Tim Kaine.

A vote is expected on Thursday on whether further military action in Venezuela should be halted unless Trump gets congressional approval.

Tim Kaine and Rand Paul are among the initiators behind that proposal.

Rand Paul says he will "keep an open mind" regarding a future bill to stop a possible U.S. invasion of Greenland.

He further says that he has not heard of any of his party members supporting military actions in Greenland.

On Saturday, the United States sent troops to Venezuela to oust President Nicolas Maduro, who is now on American soil.

Subsequently, Trump has reiterated his desire to take control of Greenland, which is part of the Kingdom of Denmark.
