More arrests for smuggling, violence against police and burglary

The police in Greenland have been busy with arrests for smuggling, violence against the police, burglary and disorderly conduct.

The Greenland Police have responded to several different reports over the past 24 hours. Among the cases is an attempted smuggling of hashish and an incident involving violence against a police officer.

Man arrested for violence against an officer in Nuuk

A man was arrested yesterday at 11:21 p.m. after he kicked a police officer in the face.

The police had responded to a report of a heavily intoxicated man. In connection with the operation, the man kicked an officer in the face.

– Of course, we do not accept that. Therefore, he was arrested and charged with assault on a public authority, says Chief of Police Thomas Jeppesen.

According to the police, the arrested person is not a person already known to the authorities.

Attempted smuggling stopped at Nuuk Airport

The police in Nuuk were called to the airport yesterday at 2:15 p.m., where a person was arrested for attempting to smuggle 788 grams of hashish.

The suspect was subsequently brought for questioning at the police station, where he was charged in the case and later released.

According to Chief of Police Thomas Jeppesen, the police are still experiencing many attempts to smuggle hashish.

“We are seeing a number of cases of smuggling, and therefore both the police and customs have tightened the controls,” he says.

Burglary at Brugseni in Sisimiut

At 03:01 last night, the police in Sisimiut responded after the alarm at Brugseni was triggered.

A person was arrested at the scene. The person is already known to the police from previous cases.

This is an attempted theft, and the person is charged with burglary.

Disturbance in Nuuk Center

On Thursday at 1:26 p.m., the police were called to Nuuk Center due to a disturbance.

A drunk person refused to comply with the police's instructions to leave the scene and was therefore arrested. The person has been detained for the purpose of detoxification.
