On Thursday night, a kind of silent demonstration took place in front of the American embassy in Copenhagen. It was Ludvig Hammeken who stood outside with Erfalasorput in his hand all night.

- In my head I needed to do something. I am, to say the least, completely tired of this unwanted pressure and advances from Trump. So when I got home from work Wednesday night and just read the latest news, I simply couldn't be in my body.

- Then I got that idea and thought, it's some kind of expression anyway.

Ludvig Hammeken grew up in Uummannaq and now lives in Denmark. He says he didn't do it for others, but for himself.

- I am indignant on a higher level. It shakes me to my core that between two close allies you have this rhetoric that is so belligerent. It shakes me violently, he says.

Ludvig Hammeken's silent demonstration came after several statements from US President Donald Trump and his staff that the US needs Greenland for its security.

Most recently, Trump has said that a military presence in Greenland is not enough, as ownership is a psychological need.
