Mental health and well-being at a time when society is under extraordinary pressure must be examined.

It will be conducted as a supplementary survey to the ongoing Population Survey in Kalaallit Nunaat 2024–2026.

This is stated by the Danish Institute of Public Health in a press release.

- The background is the current foreign policy situation, where statements from the American president about taking over Kalaallit Nunaat have created insecurity and concern among many. The survey is being conducted because there is precisely now reason to be aware of the well-being of the population, they write.

The survey consists of a questionnaire with questions about how people are feeling in their daily lives in the current situation. Questions are asked about well-being and concerns, and how it affects daily life.

It takes approximately five minutes to complete the questionnaire. Everyone in Greenland over the age of 15 is encouraged to participate.

The results will be compared with data from the ongoing population survey and previous studies, so that the researchers can see the impact the current situation has on the population's mental health and well-being.

- The results will be shared both within Kalaallit Nunaat and internationally to raise awareness about how the extraordinary pressures affect people and their everyday lives, the press release states.

The study is being conducted by the Center for Public Health in Greenland in collaboration with Ilisimatusarfik and the University of Southern Denmark.
