The American president also says that there is a good atmosphere in terms of making something happen.

He said on Thursday, according to the news agency, that the United States intends to cooperate with NATO regarding Greenland's security.

- We all intend to work together. We will implement parts of it in cooperation with NATO, which is the right way to do it, says the president.

Defense agreement can be revisited

The United States has the right to free access throughout Greenland, but cannot establish new facilities itself without Denmark's consent.

On Thursday, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (S) said that she would not rule out expanding the agreement between the United States and Denmark.

- There is a fundamental desire for there to be a deeper conversation with Denmark and Greenland on the one hand and the USA on the other.

The chairman of the Greenlandic government, Jens-Frederik Nielsen (D), also said at a press conference on Thursday that Greenland is ready for more military presence, including a permanent NATO mission.
