EU Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen speaks at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Tuesday.

She specifically mentions Greenland, and here she gives the EU's unreserved support to Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark in connection with the American pressure to take over the country.

Ursula Von der Leyen says the EU is working on a package to strengthen security in the Arctic, and a number of principles must be adhered to:

- The first principle: Full solidarity with Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark.

"The sovereignty and integrity of the territory are not negotiable," said Ursula Von der Leyen in her speech on Tuesday.

Want to invest in Greenland

She further says that, secondly, the EU is working on a massive increase in investments in Greenland:

- We will work hand in hand with Denmark and Greenland to see how we can support the local economy and infrastructure.

Third, the EU will cooperate with the US on broader security in the Arctic.

- It is clearly in our common interest, and we will upgrade our investments.

Sovereign people must determine their own future.

She specifically suggests that investments be used to build a European icebreaking capacity and other equipment of vital importance for security in the Arctic.

In addition, the Commission President wants to strengthen security cooperation with her partners in the region, which are the United Kingdom, Norway, Iceland and Canada, and she states that it is up to sovereign peoples to determine their own future.

Ursula Von der Leyen also calls Donald Trump's proposed punitive tariffs a mistake - especially between allies, and that the situation is leading the EU to renew its Arctic strategy.
