– You could learn a lot from Inuit spirituality

Dear President Trump,

I write this even though there is not much loving to say about you.

Dear President Trump,

These days, you are depriving countless people of their freedom, their sleep, their peace and the basic normality of their daily lives. You are doing this through the use of force that has long since exceeded the limits of reasonableness.

You recently took control of Venezuela and its leader, and now you have been talking about my country for a long time as if it were a product placed on a shelf in a Target supermarket.

It is probably our nature that fascinates you the most. You talk about geopolitics and the security of your country, but I know that deep down you want more than that.

Your greed and your ego have taken over your entire system. It makes me truly sad to witness. Because when greed takes such a hold on a person, it becomes difficult to change the worldview that person has created.

Look — you could learn a lot from Inuit spirituality. The people of Greenland have mastered the values and understanding of life that the Inuit religion contains. We have learned that we do not own nature. Nature is our master. It is not humans versus nature, as you seem to believe. It is not something you can “annex”. It is something you must respect and live in balance with. When you show nature respect, it gives back double.

We hunt with humility and harmony, taking only what we need to survive.

We respect and take into account everything that has life: nature, the weather, the sea, the animals and the sky. It is called Inua.

Individual heroism does not happen in a blizzard. Sharing food, skills, and care is non-negotiable. Generosity is social capital; hoarding is a systemic failure.

The Arctic country is a country that either creates balance or destroys the rest of the world. It is the center of the globe. It depends entirely on how it is treated.

We in Greenland are fully aware that you will probably never master the above.

That is precisely why we are the best suited to take care of this country and its vast surroundings.

So even if you try to “annex” Greenland, ultimately it will only be you, your descendants, and your own people — those you claim to protect — who will pay the price.
