Nanna Møller delivered her strongest international result to date this weekend, when the 17-year-old Greenlander impressed in the Norwegian Cup against some of Norway's best youth skiers.
In the highly populated field, she took both third place and first place – a significant breakthrough for the young biathlete.
Saturday's mass start featured 15 hits out of 20 possible shots, which was enough for a great third place. The following day, she followed up in the short individual start with nine hits out of ten shots and the fastest cross-country time of the day. This secured her a convincing victory with an impressive 28 seconds behind her nearest competitor.
The results underline the development that Nanna Møller has undergone during the season. She has shown high speed on the track several times and has also worked purposefully on stabilizing her shooting. This weekend, everything came together as one.
The next big challenge awaits her on March 1st, when she represents Greenland at the Junior World Championships in biathlon in Germany.
Nanna has previously stated the following to Sermitsiaq:
– The Junior World Championships will be huge, but in a strange way I am almost more looking forward to the Norwegian Cup. At the World Championships I will be facing 19-year-olds, while in the Norwegian Cup I actually have a real chance of the podium – and that would be absolutely crazy, said Nanna Møller, who has now taken the matter seriously and taken not just one but two podium places.
At the Junior World Championships Nanna will be facing the world's best youth biathletes, several of them up to two years older, and the championship will be an important opportunity to gather international experience for the coming seasons.
