Greenlandic biathlete Sondre Slettemark, who represents Denmark at the Winter Olympics, delivered a very fine performance in the men's pursuit start at the legendary facility in Anterselva in northern Italy.
Despite a costly third shooting, he finished 54th in the discipline, where Denmark has never before been represented at the Winter Olympics.
Slettemark had squeezed into the pursuit start on the outermost mandate after a 60th place in the sprint discipline over 10 kilometers, and that is why he started last.
Slettemark did have good speed on his skis, and along the way he made several good shots.
The second prone shot and the last standing shot were both flawless, but the third shot, which was the first standing shot, cost a bit. Here Slettemark had three misses, which cost him three penalty rounds.
The Greenlander finished 6 minutes and 30 seconds behind Sweden's Martin Ponsiluoma, who won Olympic gold.
The Swede finished 20 seconds ahead of Norway's Sturla Holm Lægreid, while France's Emilien Jacquelin won bronze.
