There can now facilities are made available to confidential persons digital video meetings across the Commonwealth of Nations.
This is what the Folketinget writes in a press release.
The Presidium of the Folketing discussed at its meeting today, 13 January the issue of secure video connections between the Folketing, Inatsisartut and the Lagtinget on the Faroe Islands.
Important with safe lines
It comes on the basis of a letter from the chairman of Det Foreign Policy Council, Christian Friis Bach (V), last week sent to Speaker of the Danish Parliament. He raised questions about secure lines of communication, which the board can use for undisturbed information exchange.
- It is important for the board to have safe lines for it data transmission, so that unauthorized persons cannot listen in when the board is in session video meetings.
- I am therefore satisfied that the Danish Parliament is already working together with ministries and security authorities can provide facilities, so that the board can safely hold video meetings with parties who can also receive encrypted data, says the Speaker of the Danish Parliament, Søren Gade.
Satisfied President of the USPO
In the future, the Folketing must also have its own facilities to hold secure video meetings.
Chairman of the Foreign and Security Policy Committee (USPO), Pipaluk Lynge (IA), has expressed satisfaction that Inatsisartut's committee was briefed on Tuesday morning at the same time as the Foreign Policy Committee in the Danish Parliament.
- This is the first time we have received information at the same time. They are normally only sent to us later, when they have already appeared in the press.
- This is the result of me banging on the table, said the committee chairman.
