US President Donald Trump no longer feels obligated to "think only about peace" because he was not awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
Trump wrote this in a message to Norway's Prime Minister, Jonas Gahr Støre. The Prime Minister confirmed this to the Norwegian media outlet VG.
Trump emphasizes that the goal of peace "will always be dominant," but that he can now think about what is "good and right" for the United States.
- It's just a boat that ran aground
- Denmark cannot protect this country from Russia and China, and why do they even have an "ownership right"?
- There are no written documents, it's just a boat that went ashore there hundreds of years ago, but we also had a boat that went ashore, Trump writes according to VG.
The president also elaborates in his message that, according to him, the world is not safe until the United States has "complete and total" control over Greenland.
"I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now NATO should do something for the United States," Trump wrote, according to the media outlet.
Want to tone down rhetoric
The message from Trump came in response to a short joint message from the Norwegian Prime Minister and the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, Støre told the media.
The Norwegian media NRK has also confirmed the exchange.
- In our message to Trump, we conveyed our position against his increased tariffs on Norway, Finland and other selected countries, Jonas Gahr Støre tells NRK and adds:
- We pointed out the need to tone down the rhetoric and requested a phone conversation between Trump and Stubb and me during the day.
