The White House has published four photos on the social media X, where a man who appears to be the President of the United States, Donald Trump, looks out the window at a map of Greenland.

In the foreground is a man who appears to be the Vice President of the United States, J.D. Vance, also looking towards the window.

Next to the man who appears to be Trump hangs an American flag.

The four images together form one image.

The map shows several Greenlandic towns, including Pituffik, where the Pituffik Space Base - Thule Air Base - is located. It is an American military base in Greenland from 1952.

In recent weeks, Trump has said several times that the US needs Greenland for reasons of national security. He has not denied wanting to use military force.

It has created political high tension internationally. Denmark's Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen (S), has turned up the rhetoric against Trump and said that if a NATO ally threatens another ally, "everything stops".

Denmark has received support from major NATO countries such as Great Britain, Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Poland in the attempt to talk Donald Trump out of his plans.

Naalakkersuisut wrote on his website on Monday evening that Greenland is part of the Commonwealth of Nations and will increase the political work to ensure that the defense of the world's largest island takes place under the auspices of the defense alliance Nato.
