Johannes Groth , national coach for the men's national team, and the men's handball start the year out with an exciting preparatory tournament in Paris, which takes place from the 6th to 10 January 2026. The tournament will be an important test for both the men's national team and the focus team, where the players get a unique opportunity to show who is ready for the big WC qualification in May.
- It will be really exciting to see who will appear in Paris. Both for the men's national team and the focus team, there will be competition for places, and the tournament gives the players the opportunity to show that they are ready to World Cup qualification. We also have players who are not with us this time, who are still relevant for the WC qualification. So they have to give absolutely everything they have, says Johannes Groth in a press release from TAAK.
The national coach emphasizes that the Paris tournament is about much more than just results.
- We will test the players under pressure, work with tactics and combinations, and ensure that both teams are as well prepared as possible. The tournament will be an important one steps on the way to WC qualification, he explains.
When the tournament in Paris is over, the focus shifts respectively to the USA, where the men's national team participates in the WC qualification in May, while the focus team watches towards their qualification later in the year.
