Senator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) has now come up with a proposal for a resolution to the Senate in the United States to prohibit the use of funds for military force, the conduct of hostilities or preparation for war against or concerning Greenland.
This is done in an amendment to the Senate's defense appropriations bill.
The purpose of the proposal must be realized through adjustments to appropriations for the US Department of Defense, which Trump has renamed the Department of War for the fiscal year that ends on September 30, 2026.
"Trump is trying to distract American citizens"
- Families are being crushed by rising prices for groceries and housing, inflation is rising, and Trump's name is everywhere in the Epstein files, argues Ruben Gallego and continues:
- Instead of doing something to solve those problems, Trump is trying to distract people by threatening to start wars and invade countries - first in Venezuela, and now against our NATO ally Denmark.
- What is happening in Venezuela shows us that we cannot simply ignore Trump's reckless threats. His dangerous behavior puts American lives and our global credibility at risk.
- I am introducing this amendment to make it clear that Congress will not fund illegal, unnecessary military actions, and to force Republicans to choose whether they will finally stand up or continue to enable Trump's chaos, Ruben Gallego justifies his proposal.
The proposal is still pending in the US Senate.
