Spring mood at the car dealership

There are new cars on their way to Greenland, including a new electric Mercedes GLC and a Hyundai Ioniq 9. And you can currently experience a Mercedes G-Class in Deres Auto's showroom.

At Deres Auto in Nuuk, you can now experience the Mercedes G-580, the first fully electric version of the iconic G-Class from Mercedes-Benz. It was introduced in 2024–2025 and combines the “G-Wagen” design with an electric drivetrain and new technology.

When the sun shines from a cloudless sky, it can feel like spring at this time of year, and that's how it feels at car dealerships too, as winter purchases are slowly starting to arrive in Greenland.

At Deres Auto, they have several new products on the way. Sales Director Palle Frederiksen tells us this.

- There are actually quite a few new products happening at our dealership at the moment. Among other things, we have the new Mitsubishi Outlander, which we are experiencing great interest in. In addition, we have several exciting new products on the way during the year. We are currently waiting for the new electric Mercedes GLC as well as an updated Mercedes GLE and a Hyundai Ioniq 9. In addition, we also have the Mercedes G-Class G580 in stock right now, which can be seen in our showroom.

The Nuuk car remains popular

The Mitsubishi Outlander has been very popular in Greenland for many years and has been called the "Nuuk car" because so many of them are driven around the city.

It is a mid-size SUV with the option of seven seats.

The plug-in version (PHEV), which is the most common in Greenland, has a 2.4 liter gasoline engine and two electric motors, giving a total output of 248 hp and approx. 61 kilometers of driving on pure electricity.

Luxury SUV with fast charging function

Mercedes' upcoming electric GLC - also known as "EQ-Technology" - is based on a completely new e-car platform. This will be a luxury SUV that can be charged very quickly - according to the dealer, it can get 300 kilometers of range in 10 minutes of charging.

The car should also be equipped with a so-called "heat pump" air conditioning system as standard equipment, which better preserves the battery's life and thus ensures a longer range in cold weather.

The upcoming Mercedes GLC is based on a new electric car platform that, among other things, can charge very quickly. The car is expected to arrive in Greenland during the year.

Chinese electric car popular in Nuuk

Palle Frederiksen says that Deres Auto has also got the popular SUV Navor back as a stock car.

Navor was introduced in Greenland last year after having been a success all over the world. Around 3 million copies are already on the roads in over 70 countries. Navor is a sub-brand of DFSK Motor – a joint venture between the two Chinese car manufacturers Dongfeng Motor Group and Seres Group. One of the reasons for the car's rapid popularity is that it is a large SUV with room for seven for only about 250,000 kroner.

The Chinese Navor has quickly become popular in Greenland. So far, 46 copies have been sold.

The first 46 cars have been sold

Deres Auto ordered the first 5 copies of Navor in the summer of 2025, which were sold before they reached the store, after which they ordered a further 30 copies, which were also quickly sold during the autumn and winter.

– We have just received 15 new ones back, and of them we only have 4 left in stock right now, we have therefore ordered more again, says Palle Frederiksen and adds:

– Navor has become a very popular car up here, and you can really understand that – you really get a lot of car for the money, and at the same time it is a comfortable car to drive.
