Facilities can now be made available for confidential digital video meetings across the Kingdom.

This is what the Danish Parliament writes in a press release.

The Presidium of the Folketing has discussed at a meeting today, January 13, the issue of secure video connections between the Folketing, Inatsisartut and the Lagting in the Faroe Islands.

Important with safe lines

This comes on the back of a letter that the chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee, Christian Friis Bach (V), sent to the Speaker of the Danish Parliament last week. He raised questions about secure communication lines that the committee can use for uninterrupted information exchange.

- It is important for the board to have secure lines for data transmission so that unauthorized persons cannot listen in when the board holds video meetings.

- I am therefore satisfied that the Folketing, in collaboration with ministries and security authorities, can already provide facilities so that the committee can safely hold video meetings with parties who can also receive encrypted data, says the Speaker of the Folketing, Søren Gade.

Satisfied chairman of USPO

In the future, the Folketing will also have its own facilities for holding secure video meetings.

Chairman of the Foreign and Security Policy Committee (USPO), Pipaluk Lynge (IA), has expressed satisfaction that Inatsisartut's committee was briefed on Tuesday morning at the same time as the Foreign Policy Committee in the Folketing.

- This is the first time we have received information at the same time. It is usually only sent to us later, when it has already appeared in the press.

- This is the result of me banging the table, said the committee chairman.
