Vivian greeted Pope Leo

Naalakkersuisoq Vivian Motzfeldt (S) was among the keynote speakers at the Arctic Circle Forum, which was held in Rome this week. She also had the opportunity to greet the Pope.

The Arctic Circle Forum conference was held on Tuesday and Wednesday this week in Rome, Italy.

Among the keynote speakers was Naalakkersuisoq's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Vivian Motzfeldt (S), who stated that she used the opportunity to clearly express Greenland's positions and thank the countries that have expressed support in recent challenging times:

Specially invited guest at the Pope's

As Greenland's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vivian Motzfeldt has played a key role during the diplomatic crisis caused by the great pressure from US President Donald Trump, who has expressed his desire for the US to take over Greenland.

Vivian Motzfeldt further explains about the visit to Italy that she met with the foreign ministers of Italy and Finland, among others, and so she also had the opportunity to greet Pope Leo.

Vivian Motzfeldt was a special invited guest during the Pope's weekly audience in St. Peter's Square in front of St. Peter's Basilica. Subsequently, Motzfeldt had a meeting with the Vatican's Secretary of State, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher.

Pope Leo is the first American pope. He was elected to succeed Pope Francis in May 2025.
