The planned visit by three members of Greenland government to Tasiilaq will not take place as expected. The visit, which was scheduled to take place from Saturday to Wednesday, has been cancelled after the flight that Greenland government was supposed to take on Saturday was cancelled.
The political trip to East Greenland has therefore been postponed indefinitely.
The visit was supposed to have brought Greenland government closer to citizens and local stakeholders in Tasiilaq, where there has been a long-standing desire for greater political presence and dialogue about the challenges of the area.
Planned meetings and coffee meeting cancelled
According to the original plan, the Chairman of Naalakkersuisut, Jens-Frederik Nielsen (D), together with naalakkersuisoq for housing, infrastructure, outlying districts and emergency response, Iddimanngiiu Jensen Bianco (IA), and naalakkersuisoq for fisheries, hunting, agriculture and self-sufficiency, Peter Borg (D), were to have participated in meetings with citizens, institutions and the business community.
An open coffee meeting was also planned in the community center on Sunday, where citizens were to have had the opportunity to meet naalakkersuisut directly.
That event was also not carried out as planned, and a new date for the visit has not yet been announced.
