Man arrested for violence against partner - mobile phones stolen in Maniitsoq

Two cases of violence and a burglary in Maniitsoq are among the tasks of the Greenland Police in the past 24 hours.

On Thursday evening at 9:18 p.m., the police received a report of a violent incident at an address in the Nuuk district of Nuussuaq.

Chief Aqqalu Petersen says that the police responded and a man was arrested for violence against his partner.

The suspect may have to be produced in the district court on Friday for further detention.

The female victim in the case has not suffered any serious injuries, the chief of police says.

A little later on Thursday evening at 9:37 p.m., the police received another report of violence. This time from Aasiaat.

The violent incident is said to have taken place between two boys under the age of 15. Social services have been involved in the case, as have the boys' parents, the chief of police said.

Mobile phones stolen

The chief of police also reported a targeted burglary at a store in Maniitsoq.

The burglary was reported at 2:54 a.m., and one or more perpetrators stole iPhone and Samsung mobile phones.

- If people see suspicious sales of phones without a receipt, they are welcome to contact the police, the chief of police said.

He said the burglary was very targeted and quick, and that the police are still investigating the case.

The dinghy got stuck in the ice - but got free on its own

On Thursday evening at 6:26 p.m., the police also received a report, where steps were taken to launch a SAR operation.

However, the situation had resolved itself before the authorities could do anything.

The report was that two men were stuck in a dinghy in the ice at Aasiaat and could not sail further.

The Greenland Police contacted the Arctic Command to cooperate in the task of helping the two men, but before the authorities could do anything, a new report came that the two men had made it further on their own.
