Greenland has been the center of world attention following the threats from the US, and therefore it is urgent to get a government in place in Denmark from the Greenlandic perspective.
This is according to the newly elected Greenlandic member of parliament Naaja Nathanielsen from the IA party, which is a sister party to the SF. She participated in initial negotiations with the Liberal Party on Monday, when the North Atlantic mandates were called.
- From the Greenlandic side, we are a bit impatient to have a government formed in Denmark. Much depends on a Danish government being formed in relation to the conflict situation with the US and the daily work of making rye bread, she said on Monday evening.
She therefore hopes that it will be quickly clarified by the negotiating leader and Liberal Party chairman Troels Lund Poulsen whether a government can be formed.
Qarsoq: It's about moving forward
He has taken over the baton in the attempt to form a new government, after acting Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen passed it on.
On Friday, after record-breaking negotiations to form a new government, the Moderates chose to nominate a different negotiating leader.
The election's biggest vote-getter Qarsoq Høegh-Dam from the Naleraq party is also impatient.
- We've had a good conversation. That's what I can say. But it's about time and moving forward, because the whole world is knocking, because Greenland is on the front line, he says.
He won't elaborate on whether he's willing to point to a blue government, but Nathanielsen is leaning towards a red government.
- We still stand there, that we probably lean red. But we want to have good cooperation with whoever comes from the government leader in Denmark, and therefore we would like to support the dialogue, she says.
Faroese member does not expect to have the same importance
Faroese member of parliament Sjurdur Skaale from the party Javnaðarflokkurin does not expect the North Atlantic mandates to be as important as in 2022, when 90 mandates were to be counted, which is a majority.
- After the last election I was number 90, that was very crucial, I no longer have that position.
- There is no constellation where the North Atlantic ones are crucial for the 90. We do not have as much to say this time as last time, he says.
