Jeff Landry's visit to Greenland was first known to the chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee this morning.

- It's exciting. As far as I know, there has been no one so close to Trump as Future Greenland, says Pipaluk Lynge.

Jeff Landry has stated, among other things, that he will work to make Greenland part of the United States in connection with his appointment as the United States' special envoy to Greenland. Therefore, the chairman warns that caution should be exercised.

- We must be aware of what his goals may be with his interest and visit, says Pipaluk Lynge.

She states that she does not yet know whether Jeff Landry wants to meet with her or the committee.

- If he wants to meet, we will have to take it from there. My knowledge only comes from the news.

So you won't reject a meeting if he wants it?

– I can't reject it, but a meeting won't be a negotiating situation, says Pipaluk Lynge.

– We are not for sale and will not become Americans

However, if a meeting becomes relevant, she already knows what the message will be.

– If he wants to meet, I will see it as an opportunity to clarify that we are Greenlanders and not Americans. We are not for sale. We want to be respected as equals. When we cooperate, it must be done with respect for us as a country and people, says Pipaluk Lynge.

A working group with officials from Greenland, Denmark and the United States is currently working on negotiations. According to Lynge, Landry's upcoming visit will not affect the work.

– No, because he is not part of the negotiations. That's why they take care of their tasks, says Pipaluk Lynge.
