Storm warning for Nuuk

In addition to the heavy fire, the police responded last night to an attempted burglary at the city hall in Nuuk.

Two people fled the scene but were later apprehended and arrested by the patrol.

A storm with hurricane-force winds has been forecast for Nuuk on Wednesday morning, and on that occasion the chief of police is issuing a call to the city's drivers:

- Remember to keep your lights on because there may be a "whiteout", which means remember to use your headlights and be more careful in stormy weather, says Poul Kreutzmann.

Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq states on its Facebook page that schools and daycare centers in Nuuk will remain open despite the forecast storm.

- Parents are encouraged to follow the development of the storm themselves, writes the municipality.
