The police, who have been more visible in the city in recent days in connection with Future Greenland in Nuuk and the many guests from abroad, were also clearly present during the demonstration on Thursday afternoon.

Several hundred people participated in the demonstration against the US consulate in Nuuk.

– The population demonstrated in a good and peaceful way. We have not had the need for intervention from the police. The demonstration proceeded calmly and ended peacefully, says police chief Poul Kreutzmann to Sermitsiaq.

Man thought he was shot

While the demonstration in Nuuk was about to get underway, the police were busy with another task in another part of the city. A car was stopped in the area at Iggiaa and examined by several officers – something Sermitsiaq's journalist witnessed.

The police confirm that they have been working on a case, but for the sake of the investigation, they only wish to comment in a limited way.

– I can only say that the police have worked in Nuuk, Nuussuaq and Qinngorput. I can confirm that we have had several assignments, says the police chief, Poul Kreutzmann, and continues:

– I can't say more. There is a case in progress, and it is correct that the police have been working out there.

Later that night, the police received a report of another incident that was not related to the above-mentioned case. At Kuanninnguaq near Nuuk, a man who was staying in a tent reported an incident when he believed that someone had shot at him.

– He heard two shots and believed that someone had shot at him. Therefore, we have of course been out to investigate the circumstances. However, we have not seen any people or anything suspicious, says Poul Kreutzmann.
