Paarnannguaq Mathiassen, chairman of the Committee for Culture, School and Preschool in Avannaata Municipality, is excited that the municipality has approved a new three-year cooperation agreement with Kalaallit Arsaattartut Kattuffiat (KAK).
The agreement will strengthen both the football and futsal associations in the municipality, and focuses on club services and training of local coaches with the aim of creating a more stable and developing framework for children and young people. This is stated by KAK in a press release.
The overall goal of the cooperation is to promote healthy communities through sports. According to the parties, football and futsal will contribute to well-being, health and social communities among children and young people, and thus function as a preventive effort in the local community.
As part of the agreement, Avannaata Municipality will provide financial support for club services over the next three years. In addition, the municipality will finance travel and accommodation for KAK’s instructors when they train local coaches in the municipality. The initiative is intended to ensure more qualified and safe environments in the local clubs.
Chairman of the Committee for Culture, School and Preschool, Paarnannguaq Mathiassen, emphasizes the significance of the agreement:
- Strong associations are one of the best things we can give our children and young people. With this agreement, we are strengthening communities that prevent dissatisfaction and create a healthy framework for development, she says.
At KAK, the agreement is seen as an important step in strengthening both the clubs’ everyday life and the efforts of the volunteers throughout the municipality.
- When the clubs become better organized and the coaches better trained, we create more safe and developing environments for children and young people. The collaboration with Avannaata Kommunia gives us the opportunity to work more long-term and targeted, says chairman of KAK, Kenneth Kleist.
The agreement is valid for three years and includes both club service, organizational support and coach training in the municipality's football and futsal clubs.
