Elite Sport Greenland and Kalaallit Arsaattartut Kattuffiat have entered into a three-year cooperation agreement to strengthen the development of futsal in Greenland until 2028. This is stated in a press release issued by both parties.

The agreement focuses on both elite and talent development and will also ensure a more active and stable national team work for both women and men. The goal is to create a better framework for the national teams so that they can compete at the highest international level.

Deputy chairperson of Elite Sport Greenland, Karl Peter Kristensen, states:

- When entering into the cooperation agreement, we have emphasized that work is based on a long-term strategy with a focus on strengthening the elite and developing a competitive, specialized and dedicated futsal national team with ambitious sporting goals. At the same time, there is a clear focus on ensuring a continuous level of activity and regular international competition, which is crucial for reaching the highest level. In addition, talent development is prioritized with a clear pipeline from the U-national team to the A-national team, where the players develop both technical, tactical and mental competencies. Overall, the agreement provides a solid foundation for the continued development of futsal in Greenland and a better framework for translating the futsal national team's potential into ambitious results via a strong setup around the elite, says Karl Peter Kristensen.

At Kalaallit Arsaattartut Kattuffiat, head coach Kenneth Kleist particularly emphasizes the importance of both men's and women's futsal:

- The men's national team, together with the food chain from U19, has shown significant and continuous sporting development for several years and has achieved an international level that testifies to targeted work, stable structure and high professionalism. Results, achievements and professionalisation of the national team work have strengthened Greenland's international position and created increased respect for the team. We are pleased to be able to take this step together with ESG. Continued support for the men is important, but it is absolutely crucial that we also invest in the development of women. The agreement is a clear signal that elite sports in Greenland are being developed more equitably. The fact that women are now part of the cooperation agreement with ESG is of great significance, he says. With the agreement, the parties hope to create a more stable and targeted foundation for Greenlandic futsal, where both results at national team level and the development of new talents can be improved in the coming years. At the same time, the cooperation will contribute to a more equitably development between women's and men's futsal.
