TM-62 from Kulusuk wins Greenlandic futsal championship for +35

Thomas Abelsen and his teammates from TM-62 Kulusuk can call themselves Greenlandic champions in futsal for +35 after a dramatic final against N-85 from Narsaq.

The final was a close and intense affair, where the two teams followed each other throughout the match.

– We won the final against our good friends from N-85, but it was an exciting and tough match. It was always uncertain who would win, as we played very evenly, says Thomas Abelsen.

The match had to be decided in a penalty shootout, where TM-62 eventually pulled out the long straw with a 3-2 victory.

The special thing about the victory is that the team from Kulusuk does not have access to a sports hall in their home town. Despite this, the team managed to go all the way to gold.

“We hope that in the future a mini-hall will be provided in Kulusuk,” says Thomas Abelsen.

The chairman of the sports association TM-62, Harald Mathæussen, also points out the importance of better facilities.

“It will certainly have an impact on our future development and on whether we in Greenland can keep up, become even better and have a healthier life. It is also very important that future generations continue to play sports, and therefore it is necessary to establish a small sports hall,” he says.

The victory will therefore not only be a sporting result, but also a strong symbol of unity and the need for better sports facilities in Kulusuk.
