Greenland Travel has opened a new office in Qaqortoq. It was marked at a reception on Wednesday 3 December.

This is stated by Greenland Travel in a press release.

The office is housed in Disko Line's premises at the shipyard and is staffed by Tina Lauritsen, who after many years in Greenland Travel's department in Copenhagen has returned to her hometown.

- After many years abroad, I have had a growing desire to come home and be closer to my family here. In addition, the opening of Qaqortoq's new regional airport next April provides a local spirit and new opportunities to develop the city and the area. It is both hugely exciting and rewarding to have to help shape the development here in the next few years, says travel consultant Tina Lauritsen.

Greenland Travel is part of the Air Greenland group and is the largest travel agency in Greenland, both within business and tourist travel. Through the digital platform Arctic Excursions, they offer excursions throughout the country.

Several local tourist actors in South Greenland have already been established.

Develop tourism

The opening of the office fits in with Greenland Travel's desire to be close to its core customers and support business development in the region, director Mikkel Søndergård says:

- Greenland Travel has for a period investigated the possibility of being present in Qaqortoq, as we serve a number of local companies and public institutions in the region. With new infrastructure and more players in transport and accommodation, the offer is also becoming more complex. We can both advise and get access to products that ensure business travelers the most efficient travel logistics to, from and around Greenland.

Greenland Travel will also help develop tourism in the region by using Arctic Excursions.

- Qaqortoq and South Greenland are a special destination, and I am very much looking forward to the fact that together we will be able to further develop and promote the region's many opportunities, to the delight of the operators and our joint guests, says Mikkel Søndergård.

The office in Qaqortoq will be Greenland Travel's fourth in Greenland in addition to Nuuk, Ilulissat and Sisimiut. Including the office in Copenhagen, Greenland Travel has 52 employees who handle all types of travel to, from and in Greenland as well as internationally.
