Olympic fishing for cod and halibut can continue with 2025 licenses

The Government of Greenland announces that a queue has arisen in the application waiting list, and that it has therefore been decided that fishing for cod and Greenland halibut can continue with licenses from 2025 until January 31, 2026.

Dinghy fishermen can use their 2025 licenses for Olympic fishing for cod and halibut until January 31, 2026.

Holders of inshore Olympic fishing licenses for cod and halibut can use their 2025 licenses until January 31, 2026.

This was announced by the Ministry of Fisheries, Hunting, Agriculture and Self-Sufficiency.

Head of Department in the Department's Fisheries Department, Katrine Kærgaard, says that this is due to great work pressure, including due to illness, while applications for Olympic fishing are being received and processed as a priority.

The Greenland Government decided on the TAC for coastal fisheries on December 11, 2025.
