Jensia Højgaard Dam , great musical talent, was one of the organizers behind a moving choir concert in the Assembly Hall in Nuuk last weekend.
The concert was the result of a four-day card meeting where choir members, former choir members or just those who enjoy singing could participate.
It resulted in a concert where five choirs and musicians gave numbers. There was a strong effort with a song, written and composed by Nuka Alice, from the community choir, where everyone voices the most beautiful show was presented.
After that it was Arctic Echoes, who took the stage. There were only three of them and it sounded all the way through fantastic, but with their formidable sound and timbre, it would have blown the house down backwards if they had had the joint choir behind them.
Afterwards it was time to present the Filipino Nuuk Choir. They didn't manage to stay at all presented in Greenlandic, because the applause fell loudly immediately. Applause was received they to that extent also after the first song, which was a Filipino bedtime song, and got also huge applause after their last song which was a hit national anthem.
Then came the turn The Greenland String Quartet, who played "Underground tango". That got the brain time. At first it sounded like the intro to a thriller or horror, but a little later ran it over in a woman in a tight red dress, while an elegant man dancing after her.
The community choir with Jensia Højgaard Dam was then introduced again. Jensia looks at everything choir member, it looks like she's making sure they're ready. She jumps a little and then press some keys and the song starts. There is a very special one interaction between the choir and Jensia throughout and as a spectator it is impressive to experience. There is an atmosphere of wanting to do the best from everyone parties. At one point choir members move out and take up more of the floor, which on today's occasion is the stage. It provides a full HD experience, just on sound. Amazingly beautiful.
The beautiful sounds continues with the choir, Ingiulik, who among other things sings "Fix You", there brings tears to the eyes.
Subsequently comes organist in Nuuk, Chiho Audibert with his harp, onto the stage. She is one small woman who does not take up much space in the landscape, but her whole being and the music she brings out with the harp fills the entire Assembly Hall.
The community choir the one-hour event ends with two songs. One more song written and composed by Nuka Alice, and Siiva Fleischer's "Silarsuaq takuiuk".
