Christmas was sung in Greenlandic in Vejle

All seats were occupied, and extra chairs had to be carried into the church room, as there was a Greenlandic service in St. Nicolais Church in Vejle on Saturday morning.

After the service, the church minister estimated that there had been at least 350 participants in the hour-long service, which began with a slight delay when a bus with participants from Aalborg got stuck in traffic.

The service was conducted by the Greenlandic priest in Denmark, Marianne Lynge Krogh. There was also choir singing by Arsanerit from Aalborg. The service naturally ended with Guuterput - and not a single eye was dry. Now Christmas is here again.

The occasion for the Greenlandic church service in Vejle was the Inuit Association's annual Christmas Greetings to Greenland event, which last year brought together 1,500 participants in Vejle's DGI-hus – a large indoor sports arena.

The organizers from the Inuit Community Association are expecting at least as many participants for the afternoon event, which will feature speeches, entertainment, dancing around the Christmas tree and, not least, a visit from Santa Claus. In the evening, there will be a communal dinner and dancing.
