"Nuka", a day care center in Kangerlussuaq, has organized a reindeer hunt for children. That informs Qeqqata Kommunia on its Facebook page.
- Like that one first kindergarten in Greenland, we have organized a reindeer hunt for the children and the event was a great success. The companions on the trip were exclusively women, writes the municipality in the notice.
The initiative came from a five-year-old child, whose idea the staff chose to investigate further.
- The course started with us asking the children what they were interested in and what they could think of doing. One of the five-year-olds even suggested that we could go reindeer hunting, writes Qeqqata Kommunia.
The staff took the proposal seriously and researched the possibilities and began drafting applications. The municipality says that the children were prepared by repeatedly being told that they had to go far during the hunt.
- One of the children, who already have experience with reindeer hunting, contributed explanations and shared his knowledge with the other children and thus helped in the preparation process, it appears in the announcement.
The children were respectively four and five years old. The reindeer hunt lasted approximately six hours, and they walked about 10 km.
