It is time to hear from the experts in the Block 5 case, where the state coroner will be present on video from Aarhus on Wednesday morning.
She will provide us with more information about her examination of the 20-year-old man who was found dead in a storage room in Block 5 in Nuuk on October 4, 2024.
– There were at least 19 injuries to the face, says the coroner.
One of the injuries appears to have been inflicted after death, she added. But it could still have happened right after the time of death.
Deputy Prosecutor Aprilia Jespersen is particularly interested in the time of the crime and the potential murder weapon.
– The injuries occurred within the same time period, perhaps within the same day. It could easily have been within the same minutes, the coroner said.
Shows possible murder weapon
It is still unclear exactly when the young man died. It could have been between a few hours and a few days before he was found on the morning of October 4, 2024. Apparently, there has not been sufficient investigation at the scene to determine this.
As we already knew from the indictment, the injuries were inflicted with a blunt object.
– This indicates that the same object was used. But I cannot say which object, says the state coroner.
The prosecutor is interested in whether that object could potentially be a specific paving stone. One of these was found at the crime scene with the victim's blood on it. The coroner is shown a picture of the stone.
– It could very well be. I base that on the fact that the stone has an edge that could easily cause an elongated lesion with skin abrasions around it, she replies.
The 42-year-old man, who is accused in the case, pleads not guilty to murder.
