The Municipality of Kujalleq has now found a competent social director. This was announced by the municipal director Randi Vestergaard Evaldsen in a press release.
Martha Abelsen has been involved in social affairs for a number of years. Both as Naalakkersuisoq for the area and also later as department head in the same department.
She will now take on the role of social director in the Municipality of Kujalleq from 1 July 2026.
- For me, it has been important to find someone who can and wants to go in the same direction as me – someone who wants to help develop the municipality and make our fantastic municipality the best municipality in Greenland. Someone with clear goals and clear leadership qualities, writes Randi Vestergaard Evaldsen on the municipality's website.
Requires clear leadership
- Martha is taking on a position that requires clear leadership, structure, innovative thinking and orderliness. She possesses strong professional skills and extensive experience, which the Municipality of Kujalleq will greatly enjoy and benefit from. For many years, Martha has worked in the area – both professionally, politically and at management level – which makes her the perfect choice for the position.
The Municipality of Kujalleq has major challenges in improving the social area in the municipality. The Self-Government has taken over parts of the tasks in the social area since the end of 2024. At that time, the municipality had 857 open cases in the area of children and youth and 300 disability cases according to the municipality's own calculations.
- I am pleased to have been nominated for this important position. I am ready and look forward to contributing to the development and strengthening of a work area that many citizens follow closely. Together with my future colleagues, I look forward to helping to improve the social administration so that it can once again deliver services at a high level, says Martha Abelsen.
