Air travel abroad has increased significantly

The number of air travelers from Greenland abroad has passed 10,000 in the first two months of 2026. The majority are from Nuuk.

10,958 passengers flew from Greenland and abroad in January and February this year. This is an increase of 21.9 percent compared to the first two months of last year.

The number of passengers on scheduled flights from January to February 2026 was 10,958, which is an increase of 21.9 percent compared to the year 2025. This corresponds to 1,967 passengers.

This is shown by new figures from Statistics Greenland.

In 2025, the number was 8,991 for January and February.

The figures show that the vast majority of air passengers abroad have traveled from Nuuk. Thus, 10,762 have traveled from Nuuk, while the rest are distributed among Kangerlussuaq, Kulusuk and Nerlerit Inaat.

Passengers on scheduled flights, February 2023-2026

The number of air passengers in January 2026 was 5,840, while 5,118 travelled from Greenland in February.

The number of air passengers for the whole of 2025 was 114,431.
